Heat shrinkable tubing

PTFE / FEP and PFA heat shrinkable tubing

PTFE heat shrinkable tubing is available in three kinds of material: PTFE, FEP and in PFA. Heat shrinkable tubing is extruded in tubular form and then expanded. Through heating upon assembly, the shrinkable tubing will shrink back to its expanded or specified size. Because of this property, an FEP or PFA shrink tube is excellent to use as a roller cover. Round parts, such as rollers and profiles can also be covered.

Advantages

  • Good anti- stick
  • Outstanding chemical resistance
  • Low Coeffiecient of Friction
  • High flexibility at high temperature
  • Cost effective
  • Many sizes available

We need the following information in order to be able to help you with the correct heat shrinkable tube

Carefully measure the length and diameter of the roller. Also state the foundation of the roller, the operating temperature and, if applicable, the pressure and indicate how it will be used. With these data, we can supply the shrinkable tube in the correct size. You can also apply the tube yourself, using a hot air blower. Use a hot air blower with high exit velocity and temperature control between 20°C and 650°C.

Shrink the heat shrinkable tube by moving the hot air blower slowly from one side of the roller to the other. The roller should be turned during shrinking, to spread the heat gradually.

It is possible that the tube becomes slightly longer during shrinking. For shrink tubing with larger diameters we recommend the use of a straining ring, which will help to avoid wrinkles forming during the shrinking.

If you are not able to, or do not have sufficient experience to shrink the tube yourself, we would of course be happy to apply a roller cover for you. You would send the roller to us, together with the necessary data and we would apply the shrinkable tube for you.

We can also do this for you "on-site".
